Problems we are facing!

Okay, we had our inter-rim presentation. We totally blew it.
So we are faced with a few problems. Here they are, breaking them down and we provide a bit of solution.

How our project answers to our goals/objectives?
  • Let people appreciate the location for what it is.
  • They will be less likely to convert the place/space to profit on a whim
Locations?
  • We went to 'Shenton Way' 2 or 3 times. ( too noisy, can't hear our sounds)
  • Equipment not powerful enough.
  • Audience
  • What unique soundscape do a particular location produce?
What's our Target Audience?
  • People ranging from 20 to 40 years old(the working class)
How to do effective Observation?
  • Sit at one corner, close our eyes and open our ears to listen.
  • Eliminating the visual distraction then we can concentrate.
Technical Section?
  • Decided not to use the 'Amplify' and 'Time-Stretching' simultaneously.
  • Different timing of the day will depend which one we will be using.
Presentation?
  • No conclusion
  • Videos not complete
  • More Documentation
  • More Photos
Online Website?
  • Should not limit our website's user input to only text?

http://www.useit.com/alertbox/reading_pattern.html

take a look at how users look at info when browsing web pages... or rather, when browsing thru site content.

I'm still trying to come up with user interaction that is less programmer styled...

tasks to do tonight

ok, we are seeing mr andrew at 10 or 11 tentatively(get it? ten thirty-vely) tmr... a few things we gotta show by tmr morning...

-The design plans (we all do together tmr morning... must come at 9 arh...)
-the different configurations for different scenarios
-a walk through of our nefarious plans in detail
-a list of equipment we need and has not yet gotten
- Website Storyboard (i'll be doing this part)
-flow and functionality of the website
- Art direction (gordon you do ok?)
-the logo design
-look and feel of the website based on the logo image
-Presentation PPT or SWF (i'll leave this to you shafiq, PPT or SWF up to u)
-Compile the info on this blog (andrew doesn't want to see us going to multiple places to get multiple files to see)
PROBLEMS ENCOUNTER

- Volume of the speakers are not loud enough..
- It takes time to deploy the equipment as everything was but into a bag.
- Weight of the bag is too heavy.
- Passerby doesn't notice the sound as the delay time of the maxmsp was set way to long, hence the passerby(user) walked quite a distance then the effects of the maxmsp was played.
- Too little pick up from the microphone, sound produced not very clear.

- Is not discreet enough and user was keep on eyeing on the equipment rather than noticing the sound

Update Delayed

Hey people, We have been extremely busy for the past week. Gordon and i were busy doing the MAX/MSP patches. We managed to finish the 'time-stretching' and 'amplifying' patch. so probably in a short while, we will be testing out the patches outside. So we will document the process!

As for CZ, he's busy doing the back-end of our online site. And he still at it now.

Now me and Gordon is coming up with logos to really describe who we are. Well then, we will update more. Ciao

Online Design...

Equipment list

- 3 rubbish bins/Haversacks/shopping trolleys
- 3 pairs of speakers, depending on what we use, we might need solid drive speakers.
- 2 mics
- Depending on whether we are using rubbish bins or something more mobile, we might need to go - wireless. In that case…
- 4 FM transmitters, 4 FM receivers(radios basically)
- 1 Macbook
- Battery packs for each station
- Might need an audio interface
